A wide variety of styles from all decades of the 20th century from America, Europe, and South America are included: ragtime, big band, jazz, opera, ballet, impressionism, expressionism, atonal, serialism (tone row), chance music, guitar, piano, symphony, film music, folk music, rock and roll, and more!
Gena Mayo is a homeschooling mom of 8 who has been teaching music in various forms for over 20 years. She has a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Vocal Pedagogy (teaching voice lessons). It is her desire to help all homeschoolers include music in their homeschools.
"Music in Our Homeschool is such a blessing for the busy homeschool mom. The online lessons are quick, informative, and oh-so-easy to implement! Besides pressing print on your computer for optional worksheet pages, the rest is done for you. I love how Gena has included biographical information alongside musical instruction in easy-to-read lessons that children can likely complete on their own. If you're having trouble fitting music appreciation into your schedule, this course just might be your answer." ~Cindy West of Our Journey Westward (Shining Dawn Books) and homeschooling mom of 3
"As a music educator, I appreciate the depth and organization Gena has put into her music curriculum. She provides many interesting facts and resources comparable to my college music history classes for high school students to learn about different composers of 20th Century." ~Kathy Gossen, homeschooling mom of 2, music educator, and blogger at Cornerstone Confessions
"As a mama who isn't musically gifted, but knows the power behind learning the arts-Gena's courses are absolutely perfect! Everything is all laid out for you-no extra work needed. This is a supplement but a full-blown curriculum. It's easy to pace through for older and younger children. Even daddy can take over without missing a beat! I have complete confidence in her courses, and highly recommend them!" ~Dominique Lynn Burleson, homeschooling mom of 4 and blogger at Mama Bear Outpost
