Note to Parents: Important Info Before You Begin

From the author, Kathy Gossen:

Welcome to My First Amazing Journey Around the World. I hope you have fun exploring the world this year with your kids as you go beyond traditional geographical information to God’s heart for ALL people.

This program is intended to be used 4 days a week for 33 weeks. If you wish to extend the content and make it a 5-day program, I highly recommend using that fifth day to explore the recommended library resources. In doing so, you can easily turn this 132-day curriculum into a 180-day curriculum or longer, depending on your goals.

Subjects included in this course are: Geography, World Missions, Reading, Writing, Art, and Music.

While not required, the following items are highly recommended for this course*.

  • A travel journal/notebook (a composition notebook or single subject notebook is a great option)
  • 1" binder for storing all printed material and worksheets
  • Crayola Model Magic White Clay
  • Globe
  • Wall map or student atlas
  • A Passport
  • Flag stickers for each country we visit

The following books are also highly recommended as they will be referred to often throughout the course*.

  • Missionary Stories with the Millers by Mildred A. Martin
  • Passport to the World: Your A to Z Guided Language Tour
  • Window on the World: When We Pray, God Works by Daphne Spraggett

*Click here and click here for links to any of the above items on Amazon as well as a few extra geography recommendations worth consideration. Links are provided for your convenience. If, on occasion, you do choose to purchase a product through the links provided, I may receive a very small percentage of the sale at no additional cost to you.

About the Videos

When choosing videos, I choose those that felt appropriate for my elementary-aged children at the time. However, some videos have been changed since the course was originally written and since every family has their own standard for media viewing, I highly encourage you to preview the videos ahead of time.

Also, be sure to set YouTube to restricted mode on. Restricted mode helps screen out potentially objectionable content that you may prefer not to see or don't want others in your family to stumble across while enjoying YouTube videos.

If, during your course of study, you find a broken link or unwatchable video, please leave a comment or e-mail Gena at [email protected] so that I may fix those links immediately. I appreciate your help in this matter so as to keep the content herein fresh and rewarding for all who participate.
