Scripture to read and study with "Great is Thy Faithfulness"
Lamentations 3:21–26
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Choose one of the following 3 ways to study the following Scripture as you learn about the hymn. Or, pick your own favorite method!
1. Write the Word: Have a notebook and write the Scripture after you read it each day. My kids also enjoy Bible journaling with pretty lettering or drawing something related to what was read.
2. Meditate and Memorize: Discuss what the Scripture means and meditate on it as you work daily to memorize it.
3. Compare the 3 following Bible versions.
Lamentations 3:21–26 in ESV:
21 But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
26 It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.
Lamentations 3:21–26 in NKJV:
21 This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”
25 The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the Lord.
Lamentations 3:21–26 in KJV:
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
